1. Wired speakers: connect an iPhone or iPad to external speakers via the headphone jack or lightning port.
2. Wireless speakers: connect an iPhone or iPad to external speakers via Bluetooth or AirPlay (requires Megaphone Pro, available via in-app purchase).
3. Stream to a second iOS device: connect a primary (microphone) iPhone or iPad to a target (receiving) iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi. Then connect the target (receiving) device to wired speakers via the headphone jack or lightning port.
The primary (microphone) device should be running Megaphone Pro; the target (receiving) device can be running the free version of Megaphone or Megaphone Pro. Both devices should be on the same Wi-Fi network or sharing a Personal Hotspot.
4. Apple TV as a receiver: from within Megaphone, connect an iPhone or iPad to an Apple TV that is on the same Wi-Fi network. The iPhone or iPad should be running Megaphone Pro. The Apple TV should be running Megaphone for Apple TV.**
If you have automatic downloads enabled on your Apple TV, Megaphone will appear on your Apple TV home screen after you’ve downloaded the iOS version. If you have not enabled automatic downloads on your Apple TV, Megaphone for Apple TV is available from the Apple TV App Store as a free download.
For the best sound quality, connect an iPhone or iPad to external speakers via the headphone jack or lightning port.
If you are in a larger space or the speaker jack is too far away, connect a primary (microphone) iPhone or iPad to a target (receiving) iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi with Megaphone Pro. Then connect the target (receiving) iPhone or iPad to wired speakers via the headphone jack or lightning port.
Yes. When connecting an iPhone or iPad to external speakers via Bluetooth or AirPlay, you may experience a short delay between speaking into the primary (microphone) device and hearing your voice through the speakers. This is a result of the way Bluetooth streams audio. For best results in a wireless situation, try connecting a primary (microphone) iPhone or iPad to a target (receiving) iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi with Megaphone Pro.
Check your network configuration. Certain Wi-Fi networks, including some enterprise, university and public networks, use security protocols that prohibit certain types of network traffic. These include Virtual Local Area networks (VLANs). Contact your network administrator for more information.
If you are experiencing problems connecting to a second iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi, or no Wi-Fi network is available, try setting up a Personal Hotspot on either device and connecting both devices to the Personal Hotspot.
Yes. With Megaphone Pro you can stream your voice in the background while using other apps on your iPhone or iPad.
AirPods, EarPods and other external headsets or microphones can function as a microphone only if you are streaming your voice from a primary (microphone) iPhone or iPad to a target (receiving) iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi with Megaphone Pro.
When AirPods, EarPods and other external headsets or microphones are connected to the primary device, Megaphone can only output your voice over Wi-Fi (or to the external headset itself).
